Product Review

This is something that I usually don't do, primarily because I am truly all about finding what works for your individual hair, but this time I couldn't resist!
I don't consider my hair to be a type but I'll describe it for you; is very thick and soft,  it straightens well and is very easy to manage.  My hair is very fluid and my curls are very tight and almost non existent however,  not at all kinky.
Any way, I was looking for something to help drop my curls and loosen them up. I FOUND IT! The shampoo smells like cinnamon and has a kind of gritty feel to it.  It's very creamy and heavy so if you're a fine head of hair this may not be for you.  I smoothed the shampoo around my edges and then sectioned the rest of myhair.  I finger detangled while shampooing. It opened my curls up down to the root. I had to get out the shower and look in the mirror.  I rinsed and applied the conditioner in the same way and finger detangled again.  I rinsed in 3 minutes. (I followed the directions) Perfect wash & go! My curls are hanging on my shoulder laying nicely! For the price, I'm impressed! I immediately applied my specially made product, CocoaNUT for a sealant and kept it moving. No need to add more product!

Beat the heat!

With summer rounding the corner my phone has been ringing of the hook.  On the other end is usually a potential with loads of questions about regaining the moisture that was lost during the fridged cold.  The first thing I would usually suggest is an Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse.  Use a 2-1 mixture of ACV and luke warm H2o to saturate your hair.  Place a plastic cap over your hair and then apply a steaming towel. No dryer heat is necessary.  Rinse after about 10 minutes.  I always use the 5 minute rule while rinsing or shampooing.  You'll follow this process with a Shampoo of choice.  The favorite in my Salon is the Mizani Curl Balance from the True Textures line.  It's by far the most universal natural product I've found on the pro market.  After your shampoo, I recommend applying a deep conditioner. MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON YOUR PRODUCT LABEL.  After the deep condition seal it up with a little extra virgin coconut oil,  grapeseed oil and jojoba oil.  Style as desired.  I hardly ever load my hair down with product after my sealant so that's advice you'll need to seek else where. 

The Battle

I've been avoiding the possibility of blogging for awhile now.  I recently reconsidered changing my business structure and in order to be more effective I figured I better give it a go.  I'm not big on what people think of what I say and I guess that's the true battle. Often times I blurt in the form of sarcasm, which may be inappropriate.  But hey isn't that what a blog is? An outlet to say exactly what you want, exactly how you want.  Any way,  this is just the thing I need to help the Natural Community worth some real factual information.  Some of the information will be based on opinion though so be careful.  I always preach about finding something that works and sticking with it and if you found that this isn't what works for you then ... Dueces! But please don't be negative.  Keep in mind I'm only trying to help.

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT 2013

As we "Roll" (pun intended) into a New Year I have found some things that needed a fix here at the Salon Dome Pieces and I come to you with a few "Rules of Engagement" that are sure to help us understand each other better.

First, each month there will be a series of specials posted here and on our Facebook page.  Please make sure that you UNDERSTAND the special that you have chosen and make sure you CALL WITH QUESTIONS before submitting your request for an appointment. 

Second, from time to time there are some issues with our reservation system Appointron.  If you choose to book a reservation online please be aware that you will need to WAIT FOR EMAIL CONFIRMATION. We have had some issues in the past with double booking and the email confirmation will guarantee your time or give you a list of available times to choose from.

NOTES TO REMEMBER: Often times during promotions there are multiple discounts available and unfortunately the OFFERS/DISCOUNTS CANNOT BE COMBINED.  To clarify if you select the online booking promotion (% off for using online reservations) and you are a student you will receive the service discount for the lesser amount.  Because of the amount of HUMAN HAIR choices on the market, Dome Pieces DOES NOT PROVIDE HAIR for any human hair service.  Those services include any type of Sew-In, Fusions, Quick Weaves, Constructed Afros, Micro Braids or any Specialty braid service.  If you prefer to have colored Kanekelon hair (other than 1,1b,2,4) you must also provide your own hair.

Lastly, during the months of the "Natural Style of Choice" Special you MAY NOT CHOOSE ANY BRAID WEAVE OR TWIST SERVICE.
